The single bookend fits flush with the shelf edge, so my row of novels stays perfectly upright without any overhang getting in the way. It's discreet enough that I forget it's there until I need it, which is exactly what I wanted for my workspace.
It's almost invisible against the shelf, which is exactly what I wanted when dividing up my books and supplies. The single piece holds a row of heavy hardcovers upright without budging, and it doesn't poke past the edge at all.
The shelf line stays totally clean since these don’t poke out past the edge, which my old bookends never managed. My cookbooks finally stay upright without me having to jam them in, and the single unit slides across the rail when I need to rearrange.
